IKOR Western Pennsylvania consists of registered nurses with more than 25 years of varied experience who act as our Registered Nurse Patient Advocates (RNPA). Our Personal Needs Coordinators and Financial Advocates have varied backgrounds working as accounting professionals, mental health therapists, social workers, addiction counselors, and in real estate as they support our clients in nonmedical areas. Our work culture supports a collaborative team approach that focuses on helping our clients to live as independently as possible in the least-restrictive environment. Our team members have diverse backgrounds and experience in rehabilitation, pediatrics, gerontology, and mental health, as well as in legal, mediation, business, accounting and real estate matters. We also have an Attorney and a Life Care Planner on our team.

IKOR of Western PA is also honored to have been a finalist in 2013, 2014, and 2015, for the prestigious Pittsburgh Business Ethics award in the small company category.

Michael and Patricia Hanson, Managing Directors

Michael and Patricia Hanson are a husband and wife team who use their professional experience to support the needs of those in their community with passion. Michael an Attorney and Patricia a Mental Health Counselor serve as Co-Managing Directors of IKOR of Western Pennsylvania, with team of Registered Nurse Patient Advocates, Personal Needs Coordinators and Financial Advocates they create a collaborative culture to support the best interest of their clients.

Michael Hanson graduated from the University of Akron School of Law and has been a member of the Pennsylvania Bar in good standing since 1991. Mike is a National Certified Guardian and a Certified Senior Advisor. Mr. Hanson does not practice law on behalf of IKOR of Western Pennsylvania clients, but he is versed in the legal matters that impact the lives of those they serve. Mike supports IKOR clients over seeing all Power of Attorney, Guardianship Cases and acts as Executor of the Estate when requested. Mike works with our team members handling all non-medical and non-clinical areas, i.e. Routine bill payment, Insurance Concerns, Real Estate Transactions and many other areas. Mr. Hanson partners with their IKOR clients Attorney’s as needed to address any legal concerns. Mike is also a trained mediator.

Patricia Hanson, obtained a Masters of Science Degree in Professional Counseling from Carlow University. She completed a Post Masters Certificate in Gestalt Psychotherapy from the Gestalt Institute of Pittsburgh, and a Certification as a Life Care Planner from Capital University School of Law. Patty is an Aging Life Care Professional.

Registered Nurse Advocates

Our Registered Nurse Advocates are highly experienced professionals with supervisory or management experience in the nursing field. RN Advocates have received specialized training from IKOR and have a special understanding of medical advocacy. They help our clients, and their families, navigate the complex, and often fragmented care systems. We understand tending to the needs of seniors and the disabled can be a daunting challenge. Our RN Advocates work with our clients to determine their medical needs and coordinate the delivery of care services to ensure our client’s needs are being met and personal preferences are being fulfilled.

Personal Needs Coordinators

Our Personal Needs Coordinators (PNCs) are experienced financial professionals who provide guidance, planning, oversight and the implementation of plans designed to focus on our client’s important life challenges. Personal Needs Coordinators can act as an independent, objective party to help make financial decisions that are in the best interest of our client. From helping the client find an appraiser for antiques or jewelry to helping them liquidate assets or getting quotes and bids for home modifications and repairs, our PNCs are ready to help our clients make informed decisions.
